How You Treat Your Sofa

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Thursday, February 7, 2013,

An old Indian saying states that how a person treats their sofa, the same way they treat themselves. I used to think this was pure bullshit, you know? The first time someone told me that, I thought they were bullshitting me and so I laughed and ignored them. But the last couple of days showed that this saying, Indian or not, was absolutely true. The better I treat my sofa, the better I treat myself, I notice.

For example, when I get drunk, I don’t treat my sofa very well, but I also do...

Yet Another Cleaning Peripetia

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Friday, January 18, 2013,

The last few months were quite nightmarish and to be honest with you I have a pretty good idea why. I have been a bit doubtful and much distressed because of what is going on and by the laws of attraction – negative emotions attract more of the same (unlike in physics). So by that logic, the fact that I have been experiencing an excess of negative emotions means that this attracts more negative emotions. It’s a perpetual whirlpool of negativity and despair. The situation is the same wit...

Why a Cleaning Company had to Clean Our Office in Kensington

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Wednesday, December 19, 2012,
The office environment is usually an official one (unless you work for Google, but most companies are not Google). However, sometimes when the emotions escalate (negative or positive ones, it doesn’t matter), not only does the office become more unofficial, but even there may be some damage caused to it (even if it’s just an aesthetic sort of damage). To make the picture even more colourful, sometimes the reason the emotions escalate is alcohol which means that once an uncontrollable burs...

Carpet Cleaning Problem in Kensington

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Thursday, December 6, 2012,
Carpet cleaning can sometimes be problematic, especially when you’re trying to get blue ink out of a light carpet. I guess that in order to make things clearer, I’ll have to start the story from the beginning.

Since I like writing, a friend got an inkstand for my birthday as a “lucky charm” against writer’s block. A few months later (yesterday) I tripped and accidently spilled the ink on my light carpet. You can imagine the horror I felt. I tried to clean it but my efforts were absol...

Motivation Restoration

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Thursday, November 29, 2012,
Motivation is a really interesting phenomenon. It is the basis for any sort of activity – creative or otherwise. It is the difference between a productive employee and one who is barely working. Motivation is really fragile – it can be broken in the blink of an eye but luckily, it can also easily be restored (or at least a part of it) in the matter of minutes. It was boils down to how well you understand people.

Frequently, if you show people some understanding and pay some attention to th...

Jimmy’s Games

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Thursday, November 22, 2012,
The time comes in every man’s life when he has to grow up. In that moment, after he’s been dragged through all the Nine Circles of Hell, he has to get up, look at the Devil and say: “Is that you’ve got, you miserable twat?” He has to grow balls of steel. That’s when he can tackle any challenge.

That moment in Jimmy Irons’ life came when he was trying to complete “Mario, the Lost Levels” on speed run, without dying. He had trained for months and that was the moment of truth. H...

The Realisation

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Thursday, November 15, 2012,
Connor woke up with an uneasy feeling. It was a clear day, but there was something he didn’t like in the air. There was something making him want to stay in bed all day and not go anywhere. It was a Saturday, so he could generally afford it. Except for cleaning his apartment he didn’t have any appointments. He was feeling depressed for some reason but he wasn’t sure why. Only later would he realise that the reason was a sudden realisation he had come to – that his life was completely ...

Maxwell’s Law

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Friday, November 2, 2012,

Julian Maxwell postulated his law about four years ago, twelve months after he began working for the cleaning company. His law stated that the quantity of work was proportional to what day of the week it was. So, for example, Mondays were pretty much free and Fridays were a waking nightmare. Nobody has managed to disprove Maxwell’s law yet.

When he postulated his law, Julian was the oldest cleaner in a small cleaning company in West Yorkshire. The business grew in the years to come, ho...

The Aftermath

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Monday, October 29, 2012,

The world ended. No, it didn’t end in 2012 when the Mayans had allegedly foretold it would. When December 21st of that year came, there was panic, yes. Many people sold everything they had (or rather donated it) and gathered on various places in wait of the Apocalypse. But the Apocalypse never came. They were ruined; they didn’t have anywhere to go. Many new homeless shelters were opened. We dodged another bullet, just like the ones before.  A few years later they said that the calculat...

What’s Up with That?

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Tuesday, October 23, 2012,

There was one thing I never managed to understand – what’s with people’s obsessions with so called ‘stars’? Why are they supposed to be some sort of an elite and why does almost everybody pay this close attention to what they do or what happens in their lives. I mean, really – why do people care so much? It puzzles me more and more with every conversation I hear about it. Yesterday, I heard two colleagues arguing about something like that – out of two actors, who was better lo...

What do we say to the God of Cleaning?

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Friday, October 19, 2012,

In the TV series ‘Game of Thrones’, the character Syrio Forel who teaches Arya Stark the art of sword fighting, asks and then answers the question, ‘What do we say to the God of Death? Not today!’ So I decided to rephrase it. What do we say to the God of Cleaning? You already know the answer. I have been giving that answer to the God of Cleaning for days and still can’t get to cleaning. I think this is one of the times I have to use the services of Aceclean (the cleaning company I...

What is the Best Cleaning Music?

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Wednesday, October 17, 2012,

As you’ve probably already noticed – I like cleaning. I’ve given you tips on how to do it, I’ve explained why I like it, and so the next subject I want to bring up will come as no surprise – cleaning music. What would be the best music to clean to? Certainly there can’t be a single answer. After all, everybody has different preferences when it comes to music. Although that is indeed the case, it is also true that different genres are more proper in certain contexts than others. ...

Cleaning of the Future

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Monday, September 24, 2012,
I am a fan of the Sci-Fi genre, so naturally I often think about the future in a nerdy way – how cool would it be if we lived in the 22nd century, for example, and what would life be? I think that in a hundred, a hundred and fifty years from now, all manual labour will be accomplished by robots. The technology will possibly make working in that way obsolete for human beings and we will have a lot more time to actually live – you know, do what we like (or rather find out what we like). If ...

'Cleanliness in next to fordliness'

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Tuesday, September 18, 2012,
Cleanliness is next to fordliness’ – is one of my favourite quotes from Aldous Huxley’s ‘Brave New World.’  I find myself frequently using it when somebody makes a mess or is dirty. It is the second hypnopжdic lesson in elementary hygiene. In ‘Brave New World,’ everything is built on Ford’s assembly line principles – we have mass production (humans aren’t born, they’re produced and hypnopжdia is the way they are educated or programmed, if you will, in their sleep as...

Window Cleaning Tips

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Friday, August 24, 2012,

These tips are for cleaning actual windows. As for the operating system, I will probably lay down a few advices for that too, although it will be some time in the future. OK, here we go.

First of all, let’s start with something really annoying – stickers. They can be almost impossible to remove which makes them all the more annoying. If you ask different people, they will probably advertise different methods. I will tell you what works best for me. First, scrape as much of the sticke...

Getting Ink Out of a Carpet – Is It Possible? Yes it is!

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Friday, August 17, 2012,

Oh, the horror. One of the worst things happened to me last night. It was truly dreadful and horrendous. I almost destroyed my carpet. I am glad that the carpet cleaners managed to clean it because I like it – it fits my room perfectly.

It’s my friend’s fault. If he hadn’t given me that inkstand I wouldn’t have gone through all of this. OK, it’s not his fault I’m clumsy, but still – it was so frustrating. Probably nothing I say right now makes any sense to you so I bett...

Clean the Dust Out Of Your PC Regularly

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Monday, August 13, 2012,
It doesn’t matter if you’re a hardcore gamer or just a casual PC user – the one thing everyone owning a PC suffers from is dust. Dust degrades your performance; it can get your processor to overheat (never a good thing) and other nasty things. If you want to be able to use your computer for as long as possible, as much as possible, you should clean it regularly, apply thermal paste on your processor, keep the unnecessary files to a minimum and some other useful things.

First thing you ha...

Why Do I Like Cleaning?

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Tuesday, August 7, 2012,
Interestingly enough, cleaning is fun for me. Most people don’t understand how or why, but I love cleaning – I like washing carpets, I like vacuuming, I like cleaning the windows and et cetera. I like the way everything shines after it’s been cleaned, the way everything looks like it’s fallen right into place. This is what I call magic.

I don’t understand how people don’t like cleaning in pretty much the same way they don’t understand how I like it. Leaving something just like t...

Fridge Cleaning Tricks

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Friday, July 20, 2012,
Everybody knows that everybody else uses a fridge in his house, in his restaurant, even in his office. It’s something really needed in order to keep foods in good condition and preserve them from getting moldy and unsuitable for eating.
Yes, we are using the fridge every day, but how do we maintain it in order for it to work efficiently and do we make something to make it last longer? Probably not much. It contains your food inside so you have to keep its hygiene levels really high if you do...

Kitchen Cabinets Cleaning Tricks

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Tuesday, July 10, 2012,

If you really want to maintain your kitchen cabinets free of dirt and looking pleasantly to the eye I am going to give you some tips on keeping them looking nice in the right way.

It’s commonly seen – we always leave fingerprints, food residues, greasy buildups and similar dirty stuff on our kitchen cabinets. These things also make them look dull and dirty. If you leave the stains last some time on such surfaces they become really hard to clean and it requires much more time.

This is ...

Never Say No To Panda

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Tuesday, July 3, 2012,

I am really surprised from a commercial I saw in the Internet. It was really strange and at the same time hilarious. I watched a series of Panda cheese commercials on the Internet and they really blew me off.

I was trying to picture in my mind what will happen to me if I was attacked by such a panda. Yesterday I was offered to try a certain kind of cheese in the supermarket.  I refused and went home with the pack of cheese I actually eat. I eat only the type I buy and I’m not open to new o...

Screen Accidents

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Tuesday, June 26, 2012,

I still haven’t decided on which cleaning service to use next so I’m about to tell you some of my weekend experience.

I and my husband decided to chill out at home through the weekend and not saddle ourselves with any kind of domestic or similar tasks. On Saturday evening the kids went to sleep and we decided to watch a movie. Before the movie, we were sitting in front of the PC, just looking at some random funny stuff in Facebook.

The most fun part came when we were looking at a Ja...

Site, Site On The Web, Who Is The Best Cleaner Of Them All?

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Wednesday, June 13, 2012,

First of all, I want to say I’m really sorry I deleted my old posts and re-posted them today. It happened that I had some platform issues but I hope everything is ok now. After advising my friend Vivian on taking care with the dust mites issues, I’ve been wondering what to do next. It’s really delighting to give tips to people. Helping someone makes me feel really satisfied with myself – I feel useful.

I’ve been wondering which cleaning service to use next to see what they will ...

Call Me "The Advisor"

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Wednesday, June 13, 2012,

I am really satisfied with the situation at my home now. My kids have no sneezing and wheezing problems. I book upholstery cleaning every Friday just to be sure that there won’t be any dust mites problems.

I shared my experience with a friend of mine – Vivian. She has three kids. She lives with her family here in Kensington, too. When I explained to her what happened and what the problem was she was stunned. She also didn’t expect such things to be hiding inside her furniture. I offer...

A Surprise I Didn't Expect

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Wednesday, June 13, 2012,

I’ve never thought I’ll need the services of a cleaning company. As I said in my previous post I clean my home by myself and I’m having no problems with that. It’s a pleasant task for me and when I see the result of my efforts I get a feeling of delight and self-complacency.

Last week my children were waking up sneezing and wheezing and complaining that they were not feeling very well. I was trying to figure out what the problem is but there was no explanation so we went to the docto...

My Usual Morning

Posted by Kelly Mitchell on Wednesday, June 13, 2012,

One of my favorites is jogging. I do it only in Kensington Gardens. It’s an everyday must for me. I do it every morning from 6 to 7. It’s really inspiring, refreshing and, of course, healthy!

I’ve jogged alone for more than 5 years but a couple of months ago I met an on friend of mine – Kate. It turned up that she moved to Kensington and she also jogged around in the gardens. We’ve been like so good friends from then on. We see each other every morning; talk with e...
